Your car’s A/C may not seem like an absolute necessity sometimes, but ask anyone in a hot climate about it and they’ll say it’s absolutely necessary. Most people just assume that if your A/C is working, then there’s nothing wrong with it. That’s not always the case. Here’s a quick list of signs that could indicate your A/C is having problems:
Leaking Coolant:
You won’t usually find this in newer vehicle models. Coolant can run out over very long stretches of time. Sometimes leaks pop up in the A/C compressor or hoses.
Loud Noises:
If loud noises are coming out of your car when you turn the A/C on, it could be a problem with the compressor. However, there are many potential root causes for this.
Unstable Temperature Changes:
If your A/C temperature fluctuates, it’s probably just water buildup in the hoses or assemblies. Luckily, this is a cheap, easy fix.
Bacteria Accumulation:
You’ll be able to notice this because a foul smell will be emanating from your A/C. These bacteria can build up in the evaporator; most shops have the tools to flush out these germs. This one, too, is a cheap and easy fix.
